Prediction #5: The Detroit Tigers go 96-66 and win their 5th straight American League Central crown

The Tigers are going to win the AL Central division. While it’s being crowned one of the best divisions in baseball there’s a reason for that.

The Chicago White Sox retooled with the likes of David Robertson and Jeff Samardzija. With a power bat in Jose Abreu they can be dangerous. Though they finished at a mere 73-89 in 2014 they seem to be back on their way to relevancy.

But it’s hard to ignore the Cleveland Indians. While their biggest acquisition this off-season was Brandon Moss they’re still dangerous. If Michael Brantley works off of his 3rd place finish in the AL MVP voting this team has the potential to make a lot of noise this year.

Except you have to realize this division has the reigning American League champions. The Kansas City Royals caught fire on their way to the World Series where they would fall in 7 games to the San Francisco Giants and Madison Bumgarner. While they lost James Shields to free agency they’re still as dangerous as ever with their speed and bullpen.

Unfortunately for these teams this writer still thinks the Tigers are headed to win this division. While there are some really tough heavyweights to disrupt the Tigers’ recent supremacy it shouldn’t faze this team.

If (a rather big if, honestly) everything goes right for this Tigers they should still be the class of this division and the American League.

The reason why I have them going 96-66 is because they would be the best Tigers team record-wise in their 5 year streak. The last few Tigers teams have seriously underperformed during the regular season.

It would be nice to see the Tigers as a team come out to the field and perform like the team they can be. They’ll need to if they want any chance to win this stacked AL Central.

This Tigers team has the potential to be one of the best in franchise history and they should act like it. Tigers fans and Mike Illitch are starving for that World Series banner and it’s time for these Detroit Tigers to feast.

Now, it’s time for Opening Day. Here’s to a great 2015 MLB season and Go Tigers!
