2015 NFL Draft: Top 5 Detroit Lions Offensive Line Prospects

1. Ereck Flowers, OT, Miami
Each position on the offensive line requires a slightly different skill set, and the body types typically associated with each spot vary. On the outside at tackle, height and/or length are two near essentials. Ereck Flowers has both.
Flowers tips the scale at 6-foot-6, 329 pounds and is a true mauler in the run game. For his size, he has remarkable quickness and is able to get to the second level well — and he’s no slouch in the passing game either.
Flowers has broad shoulders, a wide base, and good reaction time which allows him to pick up blocks that others can’t.

Canes Warning
One thing I didn’t like when watching his film was his hand placement. Flowers tends to keep his hands low, allowing defenders to get into his chest and beat him to the inside. It’s a detail that will have to be corrected at the professional level.
Whether or not Flowers is available at No. 23 remains a large uncertainty. His stock has been rising as of late, and some think he may go as high at No.15. In my opinion, if he is available when the Lions go on the clock, I wouldn’t be surprised with the pick.
