Todd Gurley

I’m going to quote two pals of mine because they say it better than anything I can think of at the moment. Coming off a torn ACL last season, Todd Gurley is referred to as “damaged goods” by ESPN 96.1’s Sean Baligian. I couldn’t agree more.

More from Detroit Jock City

A torn ACL is a serious injury that knocks players out for entire seasons and even after full recovery, can be re-injured. Just look at what the injury has done to Ryan Broyles and Marcus Lattimore. Even in other sports, a guy like Derrick Rose has still not recovered from what the injury has done to him.

The popular theory is “Look what Adrian Peterson did after tearing his ACL” the bottom line is Ardian Peterson ACL does not represent everyone’s ACL. At some point this excuse has to go away. Some guys can come back and others can’t. Why use your 1st round pick on “maybe” player that will miss half his rookie season?

To quote my pal Scott Bischoff of GM Jr. Scouting “if the Lions select Todd Gurley with the 23rd pick,it should be considered a fireable offense.” Once again, I couldn’t agree more.

What do you think? Who else should the Lions avoid? should the Lions select one of these guys? Leave your comments below and be sure to follow me on Twitter @Lionmike26 for some extra debate.
