The 2015 NFL schedule was released earlier this week, revealing who, when and where the Detroit Lions will play next season.

At first glance, a few things will likely jump off the paper at you.

  1. The Lions will play in a total of six nationally televised games throughout the season.
  2. Four of those six will be in prime time.
  3. Two of the four prime time games will be on Monday Night Football.

It’s the type of schedule Lions fans have ultimately hoped for with numerous opportunities for the squad to showcase their talents following an 11-5 season under Jim Caldwell in 2014. While the national recognition will be great, the toughness of the schedule also has to be mentioned.

Detroit will start the season out with three of its first four games on the road. They will also end the year with three of the final four games outside of Michigan.

With some concern present for the Lions chances with a somewhat “grueling” schedule, lets take a look at what could be the five key match-ups facing Detroit in 2015. I won’t get into too many statistics or numbers, but instead I’ll offer you my quick take on five games that could be the difference between a return to the playoffs, or a sophomore slump for the Lions under Caldwell.
