#1 Andre Ware
Remember him? Seventh overall draft pick in 1990 NFL Draft.
Coming out of the University of Houston Andre Ware could do no wrong. He was the first black quarterback to win the Heisman Trophy, broke tons of NCAA football records during his time at Houston. In his three years in college he amassed 8,202 yards and 75 touchdowns.
He was hot, practically on fire, so the Lions decided to take him with the seventh overall pick.
Well, all fires eventually burn out, unfortunately for Lions fans it was when Ware’s went out the minute he was drafted. Ware spent four seasons with Detroit, he threw for five touchdowns, eight interceptions and passed for 1,112 yards.
