Jeff Blashill

Jeff Blashill however, has got to be the obvious choice of replacement if Mike Babcock leaves the Detroit Red Wings team. Blashill is the current head coach of the Grand Rapids Griffins team who is also the Red Wings AHL team. He has won a Calder Cup in the 2012-13 season and is making his run at a second one this season. He is 88-49-15 so far in his AHL career to go with his one Calder Cup.

He is also strongly connected with the state. Blashill was born in Sault Ste. Marie. He played his college hockey at Ferris State, coached at Western Michigan University before getting his job as the Griffins head coach. He like many players has been down in the AHL just waiting to come up. quietly working on his craft and showing that he is ready when ever the team needs him.

If Babcock was to leave Jeff Blashill is clearly the guy that would replace him in my opinion. At least give him a shot, he has been in your organization and is more than deserving of a chance.
