Yet, as the days and hours count down, so do Babcock’s choices in teams that he may have wanted to go to. There were five teams besides the Red Wings that have been in the rumor cycle of wanting Babcock; Edmonton, San Jose, Philadelphia, Buffalo, and Toronto.

Now there is three; Buffalo, San Jose, and Toronto. The Philadelphia Flyers signed University of North Dakota head coach Dave Hakstol. Edmonton announced the hiring of former San Jose head coach Todd McLellan today. San Jose seems to be talking to many coaches including Babcock. According to Darren Dreger the Sharks seem to be pulling in a different direction than Babcock however. Planning on a second interview with Pete DeBoer and also looking at names like Dan Bylsma and Randy Carlyle.
Pete DeBoer was also on Edmtn's radar. It's believed the Sharks want a second interview with DeBoer. Bylsma, Carlyle and Dave Lowry in mix

It has become clear that Toronto is out of the race for Babcock as well, but nothing has been said for sure from the team. Yet finding someone who want to take the helm of that Toronto team will be a bit difficult. They are at the start of a rebuilding stage and they still have to trade away players and start collecting young players that will turn into great talent. For what Babcock seems to be looking for in a team, Toronto is not it.

Octopus Thrower
In the end that leaves Buffalo and Detroit. For the past few days many media outlets have come to the conclusion that it has more than likely been between these two since the start of “Babwatch”. Buffalo, is a team that seems to be turning it around, and are moving in the right direction unlike Toronto. However there are a lot of questions that still are with them.
The team is questionable at goaltender, they have good players, but some wonder if Jack Eichel (their projected first round pick) will be as helpful as many think. Evander Kane, a player who had issues with his old team is new and is coming off a shoulder injury. Many things come into play for Buffalo and they are unanswered until probably the preseason.
For now all both fans bases can do is wait and count down the hours to when Babcock makes his announcement.
