Sergei Fedorov 74th overall in 1989 draft

This theme is just ever-present now; the Detroit Red Wings know how to draft really good players late from the European side of the world. There was Datsyuk, Zetterberg and Nyquist, it is like they are one of the only teams that seem to scout European players. Sergei Fedorov who was selected 74th overall in the 1989 draft is no exception.

Fedorov played 13 seasons with the Red Wings. He won 3 Stanley Cups, all with the Red Wings. He was the 1994 NHL Player of the year by the Sporting News and holds the record for most goals by a Russian born player with 483.
