This is the long shot of the bunch. I have been really high on Provorov since watching him play at World Juniors this past year and watching him play in Brandon for the Wheat Kings. He is a great defenseman, who is incredibly quick and smart while on the ice.

He is ranked 7th in the NHL Draft Prospect pool and so that is why he is a long shot. Unless teams miss him or don’t need defensemen, he more than likely won’t be there at the 19th pick. However, the Red Wings could trade up and get him if they want. That is more of a probability than him falling so far down the draft board. Yet, this kid is a good player and the Red Wings need to find some young defense in this years draft.

Provorov netted 61 points (15-46) this season for the Wheat Kings. He was also selected for the Russian National team for World Juniors this past December. There he helped the Russian team being a big body on the ice. He wasn’t as offensive, with only one assist in seven games but he stood out for his play on the ice as the Russians won the Silver. It would be a miracle if he fell down the draft board for the Red Wings, but he is probably a long shot, who ever ends up getting him will be a lucky team.
