Okay, this is a pick many thought I was crazy to take when I picked him in the FanSided Mock NHL draft. Yet, me choosing him makes a lot of sense, even though he is kind of not well-known in this draft. Of course, he is ranked 24th on the NHL Draft Prospects board for North American skaters, so how anyone saw this pick as crazy is beyond me.

On the ice Ryan Pilon is a great two-way defenceman who is a quick, smooth skater. He has a powerful and accurate shot, which he has shown off in his two seasons in Brandon. In the 2013-14 season Pilon netted 29 points (4-25) in the regular season and then 4 points (1-3) in the playoffs. He followed that up in the 2014-15 season he registered 52 points (11-41) and added 12 points (1-11) in the playoffs. Yet one thing I really like about this kid is that he can and will fight. The Red Wings never seem to be a team that will fight much, but with Pilon, he can be used to protect other players.

Would you take any of these guys? Who would you take? Let us know below and don’t forget to stay connected to Detroit Jock City as the 2015 NHL Draft gets closer.
