A guy with 32 career games is a top 20 NBA Draft pick out of Michigan? OK, some projection is necessary here but although the sample size is small – very small – McGary posted an impressive PER of 16.4 as a rookie.
Compare that to career averages of other former Wolverines and McGary ranks fourth. In limited action, McGary largely showed that his game could translate to the NBA. We’ll see if that continues as the Thunder bounce back from what was a lost season last year.
Revisit this list in a couple years and McGary could pace much higher. Or he could be left off entirely.
