Jakub Kindl – Defense, 2005 1st round 19th overall

Okay, if you don’t like this pick you can take it up with Jack Mullen, because he pushed this one, so take it up with him.

However , I will say, I hate this pick purely on who they ended up passing on by taking Jakub Kindl. They missed players such as T.J. Oshie in the first round, Kris Letang and Cody Franson were both around in the third round. To think that yeah the team probably needed a defenseman, they could have had Oshie and that is something I really wonder about. Franson could have been on our team from the start and we wouldn’t have to be thinking about signing him in free agency this year.

I don’t think Kindl was an absolutely terrible pick, even as a player now he does his share for what is asked of him. He spends seasons sometimes between Detroit and Grand Rapids, he isn’t a big named player in the league and really doesn’t stand out. However, he has played more games than the two before him and so I guess that is something.
