1. Minnesota Timberwolves

Power Forward. Kentucky. Karl-Anthony Towns. 1. player. 86. The Timberwolves are playing coy about their plans with the number one pick but Karl-Anthony Towns should be the first player to cross the draft stage. He is everything an organization is looking for, both as a player and a person. The league values versatile big men and they don’t get more versatile than Towns who can excel inside or out. His presence will improve the Timberwolves on day one but he possesses a ton of potential as well.

2. Los Angeles Lakers

Duke. Jahlil Okafor. 2. player. 20. The Lakers will pounce on Towns if the Timberwolves surprise by going in a different direction, but Jahlil Okafor is a nice consolation prize. He doesn’t have the upside of Towns and he is more of an old school big, but he has a polished post game that could pay early dividends for the Lakers as Kobe Bryant’s career winds down.. Center

3. Philadelphia 76ers

3. player. 93. The backcourt is a bigger need for the 76ers but Joel Embiid’s uncertain future makes Porzingis and intriguing option. The 76ers have invested heavily in the frontcourt with Nerlens Noel and Embiid, but Embiid may need another surgery and miss another year of action. At that point, can the 76ers afford to make him part of their plans at all? Porzingis is a shoot for the moon pick that is worth the gamble for the 76ers.. Power Forward. Latvia. Kristaps Porzingis

4. New York Knicks

This is a dream scenario for the Knicks as they add to their backcourt without having to take the risk of a player like Emmanuel Mudiay. Russell has star potential and it wouldn’t be surprising to see him end up being the Rookie of the Year out of this class.. Shooting Guard. Ohio State. D'Angelo Russell. 4. player. 27

5. Orlando Magic

5. player. 38. The Magic need a shooter to play with Elfrid Payton and Victor Oladipo. Porzingis may be the player they truly covet, but Hezonja fills a need and offers a lot of upside in his own right.. Shooting Guard. Croatia. Mario Hezonja
