The difficulty of inserting the stars and stripes inside the Olde English D is that it makes for an awkward, expanded version of the logo. That’s not a huge negative as that’s sort of the point of the cap, but it makes for a different look than the classic cap we’re accustomed to. We’ll just have to get past that for this list.
The 2009 red-background cap actually works very well as a stand-alone cap. It’s very #MERICA in a way that’s fun while not being overly in-your-face about it. That being said, the overabundance of red just doesn’t work as well as a game cap for the Tigers.
For game caps, I prefer to stay as much inside the team’s pre-defined color scheme as much as possible.
