Detroit Lions 2015 Schedule Preview: Denver Broncos

The Detroit Lions don’t get a home game until week three of the 2015 season when they host the Denver Broncos. The eyes of the nation will be on Detroit as the Lions and Broncos square off on Sunday Night Football.

To check up on the Denver Broncos as they get ready to report to training camp, I got together with Tylor Walden, editor at Predominantly Orange.

Below are my questions followed by Tylor’s answers.

1. How would you assess the team’s offseason? Did they do what they needed to do through the draft and free agency?

"The offseason had its ups and downs. The Denver Broncos appeared to lose quite a few players from last season. Some which I understood, while others I was quite surprised that the team did not re-sign.However, I think through free agency and the draft, the team accounted for the majority of stage holes. I still think they can improve a bit more, but we shall see."

  • 2. Which rookie are you most excited to see play in 2015 and why?

"While everyone is going to be huge on Shane Ray for the Broncos, I’m excited to see what Ty Sambrailo brings to the table. I believe he was a steal for the Broncos in the second round of the NFL draft. He will not be facing any easy tasks at the left tackle position with Ryan Clady gone, but I think he can step up to the challenge."

    3. What is the biggest question that still needs to be answered heading into training camp?

"Offensive line without a question is the biggest question entering Broncos training camp. It appears that some are still uneasy with the projected starting lineup. And I cannot say I blame them. There are a few players that I still believe that the Broncos should have picked up. I’d honestly be more at ease if Chris Myers would have been picked up. And with Louis Vasquez the only starter from 2014 coming back, it does not put my mind at ease at all."

    4. What are your expectations for the team in 2015?

"With this possibly being Peyton Manning’s last season, it is Super Bowl or bust. I believe with the new focus shifting to the run game, a lot of pressure will be taken off of Manning, which means his numbers won’t be that huge. But the emergence of C.J. Anderson should help out a lot. And I believe the defense is going to be even more of a force this year."

    5. Right here, right now, are you marking down the game against the Lions as a win, loss or toss-up?

"I believe the game between Denver and Detroit is going to be a lot closer than people think. Detroit has the home field advantage. Not to mention its been some time since Denver came to the motor city. 8 years ago in Detroit, the Lions crushed the Broncos 44-7 in a game that saw Jay Cutler knocked out of the game. The last time Denver won in Detroit was 17-7 on Christmas Day 1999.As for who wins, it won’t be by much, but Denver steals one in Detroit in what should be a huge game. Game will be close, but Manning and the Broncos pull away late 34-24."
