Detroit Tigers Trade Rumors: Cespedes to the Orioles Could Still be in Play
By Matt Snyder
Things have been relatively quiet on the Detroit Tigers trade rumor front today — despite being just hours away from the deadline — but it would still seem likely that Yoenis Cespedes and Rajai Davis get moved in trades before 4:00 p.m.
The Baltimore Orioles has some early reported interest in Cespedes, but they appeared to be out of the running after acquiring Gerardo Parra earlier in the day.

But that might not be the case, according to ESPN’s Buster Olney. The Orioles very well might be in play.
It’s not clear if this is Olney just thinking out loud or if he has a source telling him of the Orioles’ continued interest, but it would be an interesting match. The Tigers are currently in Baltimore, so Cespedes would simply have to change clubhouses to meet up with his new team.
Cespedes won’t bring as much back as David Price did, and the outfield market looks to be cooling down a bit, but the industry still believes the Tigers can land a solid prospect and maybe a lottery ticket-type player in return for the powerful Cuban.
The White Sox have also had interest in Cespedes, but reports today suggest they’re having a hard time seeing how he’d fit with their current roster construction.
The Tigers might go all the way up until the 4:00 p.m. deadline to make the moves. It’ll be interesting to see who gets penciled in at left field if Cespedes and Rajai Davis both get moved before the game.
Tyler Collins, Daniel Fields, and Steven Moya currently comprise the outfield corps in AAA Toledo, but it hasn’t been reported that any of the three are on their way to Baltimore to join the Tigers.
