What will the running back rotation look like?
Joique Bell has stated big goals for the upcoming season but it is hard to see him coming close to the 1,200 yards he thinks he should get. Bell had 860 rushing yards last season but averaged just 3.9 yards per carry on a career-high 223 carries.
It is hard to see Bell getting more carries than that in 2015. Reggie Bush missed five games and finished with just 76 carries, numbers that should be surpassed by Ameer Abdullah. But what will the 2015 workload distribution look like?
The answer probably depends on how quickly Abdullah adjusts to the NFL. The quicker he picks up the Lions offense and flashes home run ability, the sooner he’s likely to start siphoning off touches from Bell. And what happens with Theo Riddick? Is he in line for more than the 20 carries he got a year ago or will we see him more as a receiving threat in space as he was last season?
