Fifth Tier Fantasy Football Quarterbacks

16. Teddy Bridgewater

Teddy Bridgewater’s rookie season was solid but unspectacular after winning the starting job in Minnesoat beginning in week four. 14 touchdowns and 12 interceptions is not a good ratio, but it’s reasonable to expect him to take a step forward in his second season under center. Target Round: 10

17. Jay Cutler

Jay Cutler’s strong arm and gunslinger mentality always make him a threat to have a big fantasy week, but he’s had trouble staying on the field consistently (he hasn’t played all 16 games since 2009) and is prone to high turnover totals. Target Round: 11

18. Joe Flacco

Joe Flacco threw 27 touchdown passes last season, which helped take his fantasy production up toward those in the Top-10, but his peak seasons have always been that of a reliable backup option. Target Round: 11

19. Marcus Mariota

It’s always tough predict what a rookie quarterback will do in the NFL, and even harder to nab one in your fantasy draft while being level headed about their potential performance. Don’t be the one who uses a top six or seven pick on an unknown quantity. Marcus Mariota was brilliant at Oregon, but it’s tougher to imagine him leading the Tennessee Titans to the same level of performance. Target Round: 13

20. Alex Smith

Alex Smith is listed here, but you could just as easily look at Andy Dalton, Robert Griffin III, or Jameis Winston. If you’re looking down here, you’re probably the last fantasy owner to take a second quarterback, so pick whoever you fancy and hope they have a breakout game on your starters’ bye week. Target Round: 13
