Fantasy Football 2015: Best Players To Draft In First Five Rounds

Top Player in Round 1: Adrian Peterson

Right now “All Day” is being drafted as the third overall player, behind Le’Veon Bell and Eddie Lacy.  Those are both fine players, but to me they are more in the solid but not spectacular range. I want someone who has a chance to really carry my team some weeks, and Peterson still has the most talent among players at a scarce position like running back.

Bell, Lacy, and even other players in the round are probably safer than Peterson, as anyone who drafted him last year painfully knows. However, the reasons for his missing last season are just plain weird (in more ways than one), and are a lot more fluky than any injury could be.

I want my round 1 player to be a home run, and no one gives me a better chance at that than Peterson.

Other Players I like: I like Lacy over Bell, as Bell has that suspension to deal with still (and could get more time if he screws up again, a real possibility).  C.J. Anderson helped me contend on several teams last year, as he was the top scoring back as soon as he became the full time starter.  Marshawn Lynch still has some Skittles left in his tank, so I will trust him until the end of the Rainbow.

Players I’d avoid: Aside from Bell, I also don’t trust Jamaal Charles due to his health.  DeMarco Murray did great for me on teams last year, but a new team/system, a possible time share, and A LOT of usage in 2014 has me looking past him this year. I love Aaron Rodgers as a top player, but the depth of the position means I just find better balance in team building with addressing QB later.
