The Big Ten transitioned to geographical divisions in 2014 so there’s no chance of a Michigan State-Ohio State conference championship game like we saw in 2013, but this year’s regular season matchup could prove to be a de facto title game.

Assuming they get through the previous games unscathed — not a given but a distinct possibility — a win could propel the Spartans into the Big Ten Championship Game. A loss, on the other hand, could prevent a trip to Lucas Oil Stadium and dash hopes of a College Football Playoff berth.

Unfortunately for Michigan State, this game looks like a loss. Not a definite loss, as the Spartans are good enough to beat Buckeyes, but it’s tough to beat Ohio State in Columbus, and so the odds have to be stacked against MSU.

Predicted Record: 10-1
