Take a look around the internet and the Detroit Lions are a popular pick as a 2014 playoff team that won’t make the playoffs in 2015.

While the Chicago Bears are still a mess, the Vikings are a trendy sleeper pick with many prognosticators going so far as to peg them as this year’s NFC North runner-up ahead of the Lions (let’s just ignore Brian Billick picking the Vikings to WIN the NFC North).

It is rare to find a season prediction with the Lions as a 2015 playoff team even among those who don’t see a sharp decline in their record.

As people have asked my opinion on the Lions’ upcoming season I have only been able to describe my read on things one way. I do believe this Lions team is better than last year’s team, but I have told people that I didn’t think that would necessarily be reflected in their final record.

That was without actually going through the schedule to make my picks. Now that I have, click through to see if my quick reaction was right or if I was setting my sights too low.
