New players are impressing, old players are improving
It’s not profound to say, but the Pistons are just better this year.
The aforementioned Drummond has improved.
Reggie Jackson is rewarding the faith Stan Van Gundy put in him in acquiring him and signing him to a contract that some questioned.
Kentavious Caldwell-Pope has been a more consistent force on offense and has brought a defensive intensity.
Marcus Morris has been a solid scorer and rebounder after the Pistons got him for basically nothing in an offseason trade from the Phoenix Suns.
Ersan Ilyasova is still finding himself as a Piston but been taking charges like crazy and brings a dimension on offense that had been lacking.
The pieces are better individually and they are fitting together better in Van Gundy’s system.
