Notes from Schembechler Hall:

  • Grant Newsome (OT) and David Dawson (OG/C) have worked their way into reserve roles.
  • WR Jehu Chesson , RB Derrick Green and NT Brian Mone have been bothered by a variety of issues. Chesson is expected to play, but Green and Mone are questionable. Mone, who’s been out all season with a broken leg, would add depth on a defensive line which allowed 307 yards in the double-overtime win over Indiana. Ryan Glasgow, who has played nine games this season at NT/DT, is most likely out for the season with a pectoral injury.
  • Head coach Jim Harbaugh might have bigger plans for Jabrill Peppers. Already a punt returner,  safety and offensive specialist, Coach Jim Harbaugh recently said he could see Peppers exclusively on offense next year, primarily at running back. “He’ll find his absolute best position as you go along. It’s interesting to think about and consider the possibilities.”
  • Ohio State junior Joey Bosa was recruited by both the Wolverines and Buckeyes in 2013. He chose Columbus and has become one of the top defensive ends in the country. “They (Michigan) take recruits from us,” Bosa said. “They take recruits from Ohio. They have great talent there. It was just something that wasn’t right there. Coach (Jim) Harbaugh has come in and done an incredible job of turning it around and having a great season so far.”
  • Based on scout.com’s team rankings, Ohio State currently has the nation’s No. 1 ranked class, while Michigan is 6th. Nick Bosa (5-star) defensive end, DeMario McCall (4-star) running back and Jake Hausmann (4-star) tight end, are three classy commits while Michigan boasts Brandon Peters (4-star) quarterback, Ben Bredeson (4-star OG and Ahmir Mitchell (4-star) wide receiver.
