Michigan Football vs. Florida: Citrus Bowl Time, TV Schedule, Live Stream
By Matt Snyder
The Michigan football team takes on Florida in the Citrus Bowl at 1 p.m. on New Year’s day. The game will air on TV on ABC and be streamed online by ESPN.
The Michigan Wolverines and Florida Gators will meet on New Year’s day for just the third meeting in the history of the two programs. The previous two meetings were also in bowl games played in the state of Florida. The first game came in the 2003 Outback Bowl played in Tama, where Michigan won 38-30.
The second, and most recent, came in the 2008 Citrus Bowl (the known simply as the Capital One Bowl) when unranked Michigan defeated the No. 9 Gators (then coached by Urban Meyer) in Lloyd Carr’s final game as the head coach of the Wolverines. Michigan won the game 41-35 and the players carried coach Carr off the field in celebration.
The Michigan football team appeared in only four bowl games in the seven seasons between Carr’s retirement and Jim Harbaugh’s appointment. The only win in that time span was a 12-9 Sugar Bowl victory over Virginia Tech in Brady Hoke’s first year at the helm (2011 season).

A friendly wager has been placed between the Attorneys General of the states of Michigan and Florida. If the Wolverines win, they’ll have to send a crate of fresh oranges north. If the Gators are victorious, Pure Michigan apples will be sent south.
