Third Period:

This allotment of 20 minutes was mainly composed of aggressive, physical play. With the chippy play came chances here and there, but nothing too pretty. But oh wait, here comes Athanasiou one more time, making his way around stone in an elegant way.. but shut down by Anderson. The chippy play hits its peak when all of a sudden bodies are all over the place: making hits, taking hits, blowing tires, etc… Murphy’s Law at work.

With the chaos came the final push from the Senators to tie the game up. The constant pressure gave Ottawa some great chances, but the Wings seemed to be defending pretty well.

GOAL!

Wait, what?

Yeah.. Dion Phaneuf scored his first goal (with a bomb from the point) as a Senator to tie the game up and eventually take it into overtime. Of course the Red Wings couldn’t hold onto the one goal lead or extend the lead in general: That’s just the Detroit Way of Hockey.

(That’s also what i get for talking crap about Dion in the first place)

Shots: 24-24

Sentence to Describe the Period: Y U DO DIS?

Grade: C. They held up the physical pressure from the Senators, but the Wings could not stop the inevitable from happening. It’s unfortunate that the team cannot capitalize on opportunities handed to them, but ¯_(ツ)_/¯.
