The Detroit Pistons need to bust out of their funk, but their road game at the Cleveland Cavaliers tonight seems and unlikely time for that to happen.

A two-game skid coming out of the All-Star break has the Detroit Pistons losers of five in a row overall and 2.5 games back of the Chicago Bulls and Charlotte Hornets for the final playoff spot in the Eastern Conference.

The losing streak has the Pistons a season-worst two games under .500 at 27-29 overall and their game tonight against the Cleveland Cavaliers doesn’t seem like a good opportunity to reverse their recent fortunes.

Once upon a time, the Pistons beat the Cavs to avoid dipping below .500 for the first time this season. They had lost four in a row before that pleasant surprise but that was way back on November 17. Now the Pistons are struggling again and are a team in flux after their trade deadline activities that shook up the roster.

Adding to the commotion is the trade with the Houston Rockets for Marcus Thornton and Donatas Motiejunas being held up because Motiejunas has yet to pass his physical. The Pistons sent him to see a back specialist and have requested and been granted an extension to review the information before deciding if the trade will void or be completed.

While Motiejunas is a wild card in terms of how much he would be able to contribute right away, Thornton is a player the Pistons could use coming off the bench. One way or another, the situation will be resolved when the extension expires.

That all needs to get figured out behind the scenes but there is a game to be played too. Here is all the important info you need for today’s game.
