Marcedes Lewis

There are major questions at tight end with Brandon Pettigrew on the mend from a late-season ACL injury. Had he been healthy, Pettigrew may have been released along with Joique Bell and Stephen Tulloch but the injury makes that impossible without an injury settlement. Whether he stays or ultimately goes, the Lions have a need for a blocking tight end capable of running the occasional route.

The Jacksonville Jaguars have indicated a desire to re-sign Marcedes Lewis but he could fill a needed role for the Lions. Want to have some fun with numbers? The Lions would clear $2.65 million in cap space if they can move on from Pettigrew – the exact amount Lewis made last season.

That number likely goes down for 2016 with his production in the passing game continuing to decline but that’s just fine for the Lions.
