The Detroit Red Wings are back at Joe Louis Arena tonight to face the lowly Winnipeg Jets. The Red Wings come in to tonight’s game desperate for a win.

The Detroit Red Wings let a golden opportunity slip through their fingers on Tuesday night against the Columbus Blue Jackets. In a game the Red Wings had to win or at least get a point they didn’t show a lot of energy and lost 5-3.

Jimmy Howard got the start and was hung out to dry on a couple of the Blue Jackets goals. The Red Wings were outshot 16-4 in the first period.

The Red Wings being in the playoffs seemed like a certainty just a couple weeks ago but now is becoming very worrisome as the Philadelphia Flyers are now only two points behind the Red Wings for that last playoff spot.

Every game from here on out needs to be treated like a playoff game for the Red Wings. Especially starting tonight, there is no excuse for the Red Wings to lose to another team that is last in their division.

The Red Wings didn’t get anything on Tuesday and they can’t afford to leave tonight empty handed. With how badly the Red Wings have played they are still in striking distance for the division but they need to get on a winning streak soon.

Tonight seems like a good night to get a winning streak started.

Here is all the information for tonight’s game:

Final. . 72. . 107

The starter for tonight hasn’t been revealed as of this writing but I think Jimmy Howard deserves another start. Tuesday’s loss was not on him. He has played very well whereas Petr Mrazek has struggled lately.

Next: Detroit Lions to Sign WR Marvin Jones
