The Detroit Lions’ effots in free agency have come down to one last big name and Russell Okung appears to be in no rush to make a decision. He has been considering the Pittsburgh Steelers, New York Giants and Seattle Seahawks in addition to the Lions.

Working against Okung is that he is acting as his own agent which gave him a late start in the free agency process as he was not able to take advantage of the negotiating period in the days before the official start of free agency last week. That means he had to play catch-up in finding out what where his market value stands.

Pro Football Talk reports that Okung feels he is worth $11 million to $13 million per year – a sum he surely would have found by now if there was a team out there willing to meet that price.

Instead, Okung remains unsigned and some of the teams initially interested have moved on. The Steelers went ahead with signing Ryan Harris instead and the Giants are showing interest in Donald Penn.

That could leave just the Lions and Seahawks vying for Okung’s services. In that case his best bet is likely to return to the Seahawks on a one-year deal in hopes of putting together a healthy season and giving free agency another try next year.

Also of some note is that Marvin Jones will wear the number 11. Who knew that instead of trying to fill the shoes of Calvin Johnson, he’d be trying to fill the shoes of Roy Williams. Let’s just hope that any first down signals come in something other than garbage time.
