The Detroit Pistons need more wins to keep in the playoff picture but get a great opportunity with the Milwaukee Bucks visiting The Palace tonight.

Just a dozen games remain in the Detroit Pistons‘ regular season and the Eastern Conference playoff picture remains as cloudy as it has been throughout the season.

The Pistons are in a virtual dead-heat with the Chicago Bulls for the final playoff spot with the fellow Central Division-rival Indiana Pacers just a half game ahead for the seventh seed. Only the Cleveland Cavaliers have officially wrapped up a playoff berth but the situation is essentially down to three teams fighting for two playoff spots. Make that four teams for two spots if you want to count the Washington Wizards, who are a game and a half back of the Pistons and Bulls.

Drop below the Wizards in the standings and you’ll find the other five teams in the Eastern Conference who no longer have any realistic shot at making the playoffs. That group of teams includes the Pistons’ opponent tonight, the Milwaukee Bucks.

After suffering a bad 109-88 loss to the Bucks in Milwaukee in November, the Pistons have won the last two meetings with the Bucks. The season series concludes tonight.

Wins over the Sacramento Kings and Brooklyn Nets have the Pistons 2-1 so far in their current nine-game homestand – the longest in franchise history.
