Second Round

This represents a best-case for the Lions as Michael Thomas could find himself draft in the first round when all is said and done. However, the Lions could still use help at wide receiver, even after adding Marvin Jones in free agency, and there are indications the Lions really like Thomas.

SideLion Report’s Jeff Risdon had a good note about Thomas and the Lions in his recent draft notes post:

"Thomas is an interesting wild card. Two different sources have told me the Lions have done quite a bit of legwork on him. He’s not a viable candidate at 16, but if the Lions are able to move back he is certainly in play. And if Michael Thomas is still on the board when Detroit’s turn comes up in the second round, I would be VERY surprised if his name isn’t called."

The 6’3″, 212 pound Thomas would give the Lions a bigger target at wide receiver that they will miss following the retirement of Calvin Johnson.
