Third Round

It sure looks like the Lions are doing their due diligence on offensive tackles with their eye on a day two pick and the name I’ve come back to a couple times in these seven-round mock draft scenarios is Stanford’s Kyle Murphy.

With Riley Reiff still around, the Lions don’t have to find a left tackle but Murphy brings experience on the blind side in a pro-style offense. The bigger need is on the right side and Murphy was a second-team All-Pac 12 selection on that side earlier in his college career before becoming a first-teamer at left tackle.

The differences between the left and right side aren’t as pronounced as they once were and so the biggest thing is for teams to be solid on both ends. Murphy can be that no matter which side he ends up playing and that gives the Lions options.
