As we all know, games five, six, and seven of the first-to-four series will only be played if necessary.
The winner of this Red Wings vs. Lightning series will go on to face the winner of the New York Islanders vs. Florida Panthers series in the Eastern Conference semifinals. Here’s a look at the entire bracket.
The Red Wings actually finished the regular season with the fewest number of points in this four-team pod, but they claim the number three seed by virtue of finishing third in the Atlantic division (93 points). The Islanders come over as a wild card team after finishing fourth in the Metropolitan division (100 points).
