Week 1 MLB Power Rankings: 1-5

3. Similar to the Astros, the Mets haven’t got off to a great start sitting under .500. A few new pieces have started slow and the trio of Cespedes, Walker, and Granderson are hitting under .200. Its just a matter of time before these guys warm up and help back one of the better pitching rotations in baseball.. 2-3. Last Week: 4. New York Mets . 5. player

5-2. Last Week: 8. San Francisco Giants . 4. player. 31. The Giants just took 3 out of 4 against the Dodgers moving them up in the conversation as one of the league’s best. Johny Cueto has been up and down in his two starts but adding him along with <a href=

Pittsburgh Pirates . 3. player. 4. The Pirates-Detroit series this week is an interesting one to gauge exactly where each team stands. John Jaso has done an excellent job stepping in at the lead off spot and jumpstarting this offense. The outfield of McCutchen, Marte, and Polanco is one of the best trio’s in baseball both in the field and behind the plate. Solid team top to bottom that will give the Tigers trouble this week.. 4-2. Last Week: 5

The formula that led to a Championship last season is working to perfection early this season as well. The Royals starters have been good enough to get them to the late innings when their stellar bullpen takes over. Timely hitting and base running goes along way as well. It feels like the offense is a step behind the pitching right now which should only make things easier as the bats start to warm up.. 4-1. Last Week: 3. Kansas City Royals . 2. player. 7

9. Different than last season when the Nationals entered the year as the preseason favorite, the Cubs have actually gone out and backed it up 100%. They sit at 5-1 through the first week winning all five games on the road and leaving little doubt that they are a contender this season. The top of their lineup even without Kyle Schwarber has been deadly and this team has confirmed the preseason hype.. 5-1. Last Week: 1. Chicago Cubs . 1. player
