Second Round

Some wonder whether Su’a Cravens is more of a safety or a linebacker at the next level, although it may not really matter to the Lions. Gone are the days under Jim Schwartz where the Lions’ safeties were asked to play left and right sides rather than the differing roles of free safety and strong safety.

Glover Quin is more than capable in a straight free safety role, leaving a player like Cravens to blur the line between strong safety and an extra linebacker. Detroit Jock City’s Erik Schlitt did a nice job taking a look at six players, including Cravens, the Lions could consider for such a role with is gaining popularity.

Strong safety figures to be a strong target for the Lions at some point in the draft. Losing Isa Abdul-Quddus in free agency hurt and the signing of Rafael Bush and Tavon Wilson isn’t sufficient to make up for the loss.
