Fifth Round

I know what you’re thinking, another offensive lineman? Consider it a hedge of bets but Dahl isn’t a totally redundant to the selection of Haeg. Dahl played left tackle for Washington State but most evaluators see him moving inside in the NFL due to a lack of height and overall length.

Whether depth at tackle or competing for playing time at guard, Dahl would be a low risk pick on day three with upside to be a long-term solution somewhere on the line.

If there is a forgotten position as this mock draft scenario plays out it is at defensive tackle as other needs have been addressed instead. That ends with the Lions’ second pick in the fifth round with Clemson defensive tackle D.J. Reader.

Reader is a big body with some athleticism and could be an option to replace Haloti Ngata down the line. There is still potential to be untapped and he will have to sufficiently answer questions from NFL teams regarding an absence he took from the Clemson football team last August before returning in October.
