Week Three is in the books and we are slowly starting to see the cream rise to the top across Major League Baseball. Three or four game series give us a glimpse of where teams stand as its always hard to sweep no matter who the opponent.

The Washington Nationals continue to rise up my rankings and win ball games highlighted by their 16 inning walk-off win yesterday that saw Bryce Harper start the game on the bench and still hit a pinch-hit home run. Following yesterday’s game, the still only 23 year old Harper is sitting on top in both home runs and RBI’s through this seasons three weeks.

The Tigers took a giant leap back over the past week with some play that can only be classified as “concerning.” Dropping 5 out of 6 games in the division is not exactly how it looked like things were going to go following a strong start. The fact that Mike Pelfrey has the second best ERA out of the Tigers 5 starters tells you what type of performance they are getting from their starting pitching.

The bats also went cold the past week as J.D. Martinez, Miguel Cabrera and Justin Upton have combined to go 9 for their last 62 over the past week with a combined 19 strikeouts. With the exception of Jarrod Saltalamacchia, these guys need to refocus on their current home stand and provide some run support for an already struggling pitching staff.

This week’s rankings has the Braves taking back over at the bottom while the Chicago Cubs continue to roll and sit at the top of the list. The Tigers and Astros are the biggest fallers this week. Check them out.
