Right Field: Matt Young

Years with Tigers: 2012
Batting line: 11 PA, .100/.182/.200

Matt Young first broke into the major leagues as a 28 year old with the Atlanta Braves in 2011. A year later he signed a minor league contract with the Tigers organization and was sent to AAA Toledo.

The Tigers called Young up to the big leagues that June when Andy Dirks was placed on the disabled list (I, for one, am shocked that Andy Dirks was ever on the disabled list).

Young appeared in five games (making one start) but collected just one hit in brief stint. He was sent back to the minor leagues 15 days later with a .100/.182/.200 batting line.

Young finished the 2012 season with the Mud Hens and then split the 2013 season between the Los Angeles Angeles AAA club and the Mexican League.
