The USMNT will take on Paraguay in the final match of Copa America group play on Saturday night. Find out how to watch the game on TV or online.

The United States Men’s National Team will wrap up group play of the Copa America Centenario on Saturday night when they face Paraguay in Philadelphia.

The USMNT currently sits in second position in Group A with three points and a +2 goal differential. The top two teams in each of the four groups advance to the knockout round. According to ESPN’s Soccer Power Index, the United States has a 72% chance of advancing at this point.

Here are the USMNT’s advancement scenarios heading into Saturday’s matches. The main takeaway for the United States is win and in, draw and 99.9% in.

USMNT Wins Group A with:

  • A win over Paraguay and a Colombia loss to Costa Rica

USMNT Advances in 2nd Place with:

  • A win over Paraguay and a Colombia win or draw vs. Costa Rica
  • A draw vs. Paraguay and a Colombia win or draw vs. Costa Rica
  • A draw vs. Paraguay and a Costa Rica win over Colombia by fewer than six goals.

USMNT Does Not Advance With:

  • A loss vs. Paraguay
  • A draw vs. Paraguay and a Costa Rica win over Colombia by six or more goals.*

*Goals scored is the second tiebreaker after goal differential, so there’s a chance USMNT could advance in a scenario with Costa Rica beating Colombia by  exactly six but it’s very slim. An example would be drawing Paraguay 3-3 and Costa Rica beating Colombia 6-0.
