Adairius Barnes, cornerback, Louisiana Tech
($5,000 signing bonuses, $5,000 guaranteed salary)

The Lions gave Barnes a signing bonus and guaranteed salary when they signed him, hoping to bolster an inexperienced depth chart. He’s a little undersized (5’10”, 179), but he has an outstanding 41.5″ vertical and is a good athlete overall.

Barnes’ stat line at Louisiana Tech was decent (103 tackles, 26 passes defended and ten interceptions as a three-year starter), but there is only so much one can get from a defensive back’s numbers.

There has not been much word on Barnes coming out of camp, but the depth chart at cornerback behind Darius Slay is a relatively unimpressive hodgepodge of recent draft picks and UDFAs, career backups and special teamers, so Barnes will have his chance to impress in camp and in the preseason.
