USMNT vs. Argentina: Copa America Semifinal Match Time, TV Schedule, Live Stream
By Matt Snyder
The USMNT will take on Argentina in the Copa America Centenario semifnals on Tuesday night. Find out how to watch the game on TV or online.
The United States Men’s National Team achieved coach Jurgen Klinsmann’s stated goal of reaching the semifinals of the Copa America Centenario when they beat Ecuador 2-1 on Thursday night in Seattle.
Their reward for achieving that goal? A date with the Argentina, the top ranked team in the world by both FIFA’s convoluted ranking system and ESPN’s more sensible Soccer Power Index.
But not only will the USMNT have to contend with the best team in the world, they’ll have to try to stop arguably the best player in the world in Lionel Messi. For the uninitiated, a quick Youtube search reveals a litany of fantastic goals created by fancy footwork, slippery runs, and a knack for the net.

The USMNT will have to try to best Argentina without three of their usual starters. Midfielders Jermaine Jones and Alejandro Bedoya and forward Bobby Wood have been suspended for the semifinal match for yellow card accumulation (or a straight red, in Jones’ case).
Conventional wisdom seems to suggest Klinsmann will elect to move Gyasi Zardes forward from the midfield to fill Wood’s spot and for the dreadlocked Kyle Beckerman to fill one of the midfield openings, but that likely leaves two midfield spots open.
The present author believes Graham Zusi (who has appeared in all four Copa America matches off the bench) and Darlington Nagbe will ultimately be called upon, but some internet scribes have suggested moving Fabian Johnson up to the midfield and keeping Matt Besler in at left back — a spot he filled vs. Ecuador while DeAndre Yedlin was serving a suspension. But we’ll have to wait and see how Klinsmann aligns this USMNT squad.
