Brice Johnson

North Carolina forward Brice Johnson is the final player on Chad Ford’s big board to get a Pistons mention and their pick at 18 overall is notes as the top of Johnson’s projected draft range:

"Upside: Johnson is an explosive athlete. He was one of the best rebounders in college basketball as a senior and has a nice midrange jumper. Downside: He needs to add strength. He doesn’t stretch the floor out to the 3-point line and his game developed slowly at UNC. Draft range: Nos. 18-35. with the Pistons, Pacers, Clippers, Raptors, Suns, Spurs and Warriors as potential suitors in the first round."

18 might be a reach for Johnson but his name has popped up for the Piston in some mock drafts during the pre-draft process. For the Pistons to take that risk they will have to be convinced he will be able to add strength and extend his midrange jumper out to the three point line.

The trajectory of his development at North Carolina might put those things in doubt, so the Pistons could be better served looking elsewhere, especially if other previously mentioned forward prospects are also available.
