Center Field: Mike Trout, Los Angeles Angels

It wouldn’t be an All-Star game without Mike Trout. Many fans in Detroit are tired of hearing of his greatness after the tiresome Trout vs. Cabrera debates of 2012 and 2013. But Trout’s status as one of the game’s preeminent superstars is not in question; he’s been named to the All-Star squad, won a Silver Slugger Award, and has finished in the top two of AL MVP voting in each of his four full seasons in the major leagues.

There was a brief period where it looked like 2016 might be a down year for Trout. Two weeks into the season he was hitting .220/.333/.340 with a strikeout rate above 26%. But the slow start turned out to be little more than small sample nonsense.

Trout has resumed hitting just like he always has and enters this weekend’s action with a stellar .300/.402/.528 batting line.
