Detroit Tigers in tough position as trading deadline approaches

Win, Lose, or Draw
This puts Detroit in a tough spot. Do they deplete what little farm system reserves they have, or obtained during last year’s trading deadline dumps of David Price, Joakim Soria, and Yoenis Cespedes, stand pat and ride it out with a somewhat flawed team, or hit reset and sell some pieces for a nice haul like they did last year?
This might be crazy talk to some. After all, Cleveland problem aside, the Tigers have been one of the better teams in the American League for the last four weeks. Indeed, they are 20-12 since June 1 (heading into Tuesday night’s tilt to avoid going 0-11 against the Tribe), including 17-11 during June.
This is personally notable because a month ago, I opined that the Tigers had to use a home-heavy schedule to go at least 16-12 to be considered true contenders.
They did me one better, but still do not appear to be a team ready to take the next step.
