Detroit Pistons Sign Boban Marjanovic to Offer Sheet
By Zac Snyder

The initial flurry has passed but the Detroit Pistons aren’t done in free agency as they signed San Antonio Spurs center Boban Marjanovic to an offer sheet.
The Detroit Pistons are set at starting center for the long-term with Andre Drummond set to sign a five-year max contract but there are long-term questions about the depth behind him.
Aron Baynes played well last season – his first in Detroit after signing a three-year, $19.5 million deal – but the third year on his contract is a player option. With NBA salaries exploding and Baynes proving capable of the increased role he saw in moving from the San Antonio Spurs to the Pistons, Baynes figures to be able to command a nice raise over the $6.5 million due to him in 2017-18 by opting out.
The Pistons surely know this and have already taken steps to ensure their big man depth for the foreseeable future by signing another Spurs big man to an offer sheet.
ESPN’s Marc Stein broke the news that Boban Marjanovic has signed an offer sheet with the Pistons.

As a restricted free agent, the San Antonio Spurs have three days to retain Marjanovic by matching the Pistons’ offer. However, early reports say that is unlikely to happen.
The Spurs, league sources say, are resigned to losing fan favorite Boban Marjanovic, unable to match Detroit's offer sheet

Marjanovic has just one season of NBA experience, appearing in 54 games for the Spurs last season but he was effective in limited action averaging 5.5 points and 3.6 rebounds in less than ten minutes per game.
The 7-3 Serbian has played one year in the NBA but turns 28-years old next month and had a distinguished career in Europe before coming to play in the United States. Marjanovic was the three-time defending Serbian Super League MVP before signing with the Spurs.

Stein noted in his tweet that Boban was a fan-favorite in San Antonio and you can see some of the personality come out in that car commercial.
