Steven Moya

Steven Moya is one of the few major league players who could be traded away if the Tigers decide to act as deadline buyers.

Forced into everyday duty with J.D. Martinez‘ injury, Moya has responded with an above average batting line (.267/.304/.535) and an impressive display of power. Moya is always going to strike out a lot and hasn’t shown much propensity to draw walks, but when he contacts a baseball it tends to go a long way.

For 92 plate appearances this season the Tigers have gotten near-ceiling production out of Moya as he’s proven to the league that he can hit major league pitching enough to allow his power to play. With Martinez apparently nearing his return to the club, Moya’s position on the major league club could become superfluous by the end of the month.

The Tigers could look to cash in on a young powerful bat to help bolster the pitching staff.
