Cornerback

1. Darius Slay
2. Nevin Lawson

It’s nice to have one of the league’s best young corners topping the depth chart but the Lions will need more than just Darius Slay to produce to find success in 2016.

Nevin Lawson returns as the likely starter on the outside opposite Slay but still has work to do to inspire full confidence. The Lions have some depth with the likes of Alex Carter, Quandre Diggs, Darrin Walls and Johnson Bademosi, but no sure upgrades over Lawson at this point.

Incumbent status is enough to keep Lawson number two on the depth chart heading into training camp but it wouldn’t be a bad thing for someone else to emerge.

Even better would be Lawson taking a big step forward to lock down the position on his own merit while being pushed by those behind him.
