Wide Receiver

1. Golden Tate
2. Marvin Jones

The only way to replace a generational talent like Calvin Johnson is with another generational talent. The Lions got one of the best available wide receivers in free agency by signing Marvin Jones but no one will mistake Jones as a generational talent.

That means it will take a team effort to replace Megatron’s production as much as possible, starting with more efficiency at quarterback from Matthew Stafford and production from the Lions’ top two receivers.

While Calvin Johnson and just about anyone would make for a good duo, the Lions still have a pretty good top-two at the top of the wide receiver depth chart with Jones and Golden Tate. Either could be labeled the team’s one or two as little separates the two.

Tate has the better track record and Jones has some durability questions, but we can expect some weeks in which Tate sees more targets and other weeks in which Jones gets more opportunities.
