Detroit Lions news looks at the team’s training camp schedule as they report today. That and more news and notes from around the internet.

The NFL offseason has come to an end with the Detroit Lions and the rest of the league starting to report to training camp. It’s report day today at the Lions’ practice facility in Allen Park, with the first on-field workout of camp set for tomorrow afternoon.

Fewer practices will be open to fans this season because of the team’s trip for joint-practices with the Pittsburgh Steelers before the two teams meet in the preseason opener but there are still opportunities for fans to get out to see the team on the practice field.

Some open practices are restricted to certain groups so be sure to check for details on the Detroit Lions’ training camp page if you’re thinking of heading to a practice. The full schedule is as follows:

Friday, Jul 29 (Ford Dealers Day) – 3:30 p.m.
Saturday, Jul 30 (Suiteholders Day) – 3:30 p.m.
Sunday, Jul 31 (Season Ticket Members Day) – 2:00 p.m.
Monday, Aug 1 – 3:30 p.m.
Wednesday, Aug 3 (Police/Fire/EMT Day) – 7:30 p.m.
Thursday, Aug 4 – 2:00 p.m.
Friday, Aug 5 – 3:30 p.m.
Saturday, Aug 6 (Family Day at Ford Field) – 10:30 a.m.

As always, open practices outside at the team facility are weather-dependent. In the case of inclement weather, practice will be moved inside and will not be open to fans because of facility constraints.

In league-wide news, the NFL is expected to award the 2017 NFL Draft to the city of Philadelphia. I’ve never understood the interest some have to attend the event in person as it seems like more of a TV event but having the draft in Chicago the past two years made for an easier trip for Lions fans.
