Detroit Lions: Eric Ebron Injury Update
By Erik Schlitt

The Detroit Lions can breathe a sigh of relief as it appears tight end Eric Ebron escapes without a major injury.
During Saturday’s “Mock Game” the Detroit Lions starting tight end Eric Ebron appeared to suffer a severe injury to his lower right leg. Initial reports were that it was either an ankle or Achilles injury, and required a cart to leave the field.
Later that night, Ebron took to snap chat and Twitter to send messages out to his fans, but he did not elaborate on his status. It wasn’t until after this mornings practice that local beat writers started to report on the situation.
Eric Ebron missed practice this morning, but did attend it without a cast, walking boot, etc. Slight limp, but that's it. That's great news

Ebron didn't run or even jog at all when teammates went from drill to drill. He did have a slight limp

Reports that Ebron is moving around practice and walking without a brace are very encouraging signs. The video from Brad Galli also supports this narrative. If he had an Achilles injury he wouldn’t be able to do this so it is most likely an ankle injury.
Very positive evidence against Achilles tendon rupture. No boot is key. https://t.co/QloEU9U80N

Now how severe the ankle injury is has not been clarified. If it’s minor, he may miss only some preseason games. If it is a “High Ankle” sprain, he may not be ready until after few games into the regular season.

Head Coach Jim Caldwell has yet to comment on Ebron’s injury status but the Lions are usually tight-lipped in this type of situation. So, while we don’t have an official injury status, all signs point to Ebron and the Lions escaping this situation with just minimal damage.
